Cycle to Work Day is the UK’s biggest cycle commuting event. It is a national event and this year it will be held on Thursday 8th August.
It aims to encourage as many people as possible to take to two wheels and cycle to work for at least one day (and beyond, once people realise just how much more satisfying it is than the alternatives!).
All you need to take part is a bike – new or old – and the desire to ride.
How do I take part?
Previously, riders were asked to pledge the number of miles they plan to ride on the Cycle to Work Day website. This year, Cycle to Work Day will be running on Cyclescheme’s Love to Ride community.
You can sign up with Facebook, Strava or simply by entering your details, and then connect a smartphone app so you can log their rides. All the info you need to register is on the Love to Ride website. Once signed up, you can invite friends and colleagues, and share experiences of trying out a commute on two wheels.
Leeds City Council will be taking part in the day and are hoping to arrange some bike MOT’s along with other incentives.

They will be held on:

and
